At The Kloof Project, we have put together a few new year resolutions for our little village in 2022, but they all have one thing in common: Community Participation!
Please don’t panic! We aren’t going to ask you to cut all the grass along the freeway with a pair of scissors (although it’s fun to think about). There are a few things you can do that would have a huge impact… if everyone gets involved.
Maintain your piece of our village
Take a look at the entrance of your property. Is there mud on the walls? Unkempt shrubs or unruly grass? These things aren’t difficult to fix and how regularly you maintain them will dictate how much effort maintenance will take. Here are some small changes in your yard, or on your verge, that you can do to make a big difference:
- Mow your lawn.
- Wash your walls at least once a month.
- Rake up and remove any leaves or fallen branches.
- Clear your gutters regularly.
- Pick up the litter – you may not have left it there, but you can make sure it doesn’t stick around!
Enjoy your weekends locally
The Upper Highway Rail Trail offers a fun opportunity to be active for the whole family. From dog-walking to off road cycling, it’s the perfect place to work on your new year’s resolutions.
Have you heard about our Bridge-to-Bridge clean-up? This year we are cleaning up The Kloof stretch – get in touch on any of our social media platforms to find out more and volunteer your time!
If you see it, pick it up!
Pick up litter as you walk around the village and malls, making use of the many conveniently placed bins. Don’t forget to sanitize when you are done. If we all do our bit, the village will be spotless!
Mind the (lack of) traffic lights
Consciously slow down your driving speed when going through the centre of our village, considering we have no traffic lights and many pedestrians. Remember to be mindful of them when driving through our little village – you have the power to make our village safer.
Help us help you
Observe as you drive around the Kloof village. Did you know the overall environment is maintained largely by The Kloof Project? If you buy into our vision, consider a modest monthly debit order as a small investment in securing your home value.
